Lymelife (2008)

Lymelife is a film that follows two families in the seventies at the heart of the Lyme disease epidemic. It’s a drama that focuses on relationships. Whether its with parents, kids, husbands, wives, mistresses, girlfriends, boyfriends, siblings or friends, it touches on all.

The films all-star cast includes Alec Baldwin, Cynthia Nixon, Timothy Hutton, Emma Roberts, Kieran Culkin, and Rory Culkin who delivers a star making performance. Emma and Kieran both give good performances as well, while Alec does his best work since the Cooler and Timothy Hutton does his best work to date. Derick Martini, writes with his brother, Steven Martini, and directs this elegant drama. The script is nothing short of great. It was engrossing, touching, real, and powerful. I loved the acting, writing, and the directing. The overall execution of this film was spot-on.

You should go out today and rent this picture. It’s a very pleasing feature. I look forward to seeing this young filmmakers next project. He has Oscar-worthy potential. Lymelife was definitely a big screen worthy picture.

I will now be watching the Culkins’ careers very closely and am excited to see Rory hit main stream next spring in Scream 4 with the young Emma Roberts back by his side.
