MacGruber (2010)

I personally am not a huge fan of SNL, and with the exception of Wayne’s World and the Ladies Man I never really enjoyed there movies. That isn’t the case in MacGruber, a comedy about an elite soldier, who uses homemade gadgets instead of guns to fight crime, and has gone into hiding. He is called back to duty to catch his arch-nemesis, Deter Von Cunth, played by Val Kilmer. Cunth is the object of MacGruber’s revenge after Cunth brutally murdered Mac’s wife on their wedding day.

This is a very funny comedy with some cool action, some grisly images, and lots of Will Forte’s ass. Its like Rambo meets the Ladies Man. Will Forte stars in the film which he helped write as MacGruber. A man stuck in the eighties with no clue how to do the job he is supposedly so good at. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph both deliver hilarious performances as the love interests of MacGruber. Val Kilmer is awesome as the villain while Ryan Philippe does a fine job as the serious soldier who becomes friends with the idiot star.

Its hard for me to tell people to go to the theatre to see such a ridiculous movie. It wasn’t really a great comedy but it was good. I liked it. And I’m hard on comedy. I’m going to say wait for the Blu-Ray, or if your still stuck in the stone ages of the DVD, to see this movie. Whatever you do don’t completely miss it, there are some guaranteed laughs in this one.
